 4-Pin CFL Bulb Remover for removing bulbs up to 6-1/2"

The bulb remover tool helps you to safely remove your CFL bulb from recessed lighting cans without the risk of breaking the glass tubes in your hand and breathing harmful mercury vapors.

The remover can be used manually by hand or with an extension pole (not included) to remove and install 4-Pin CFL Bulbs.

The top and bottom rings keep the bulb from falling out of the remover when removing and installing the bulb, so you never have to handle the glass tubes.

Assembly Instructions:

  • Install the 1/2" tall ring on the lower part of the bulb remover. This will remain on the bulb remover for removing or installing the 4-Pin CFL Bulbs.

Instructions for hand use:

  • Turn the power off to the lights.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the top section for the 4-3/4" bulb.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the middle section for the 5.2" and 5.6" bulbs.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the bottom section for the 6.4" and 6-1/2" bulbs.
  • Insert the remover tool up towards the base of the bulb.
  • Angle the remover tool so the tips of the arms slide against the ceramic base to spread the arms open.
  • Once the arms spread open, push the remover up to slip over the lip of the base of the bulb.
  • You may have to wiggle the bulb side-to-side or front-to-back to loosen the bulb pins from the socket.
  • Pull downward using the finger hole slot on the bottom of the remover tool.

Instructions for extension pole use:

  • Turn the power off to the lights.
  • Attach remover to the extension pole.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the top section for the 4-3/4" bulb.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the middle section for the 5.2" and 5.6" bulbs.
  • Install the 1/2" ring in the bottom section for the 6.4" and 6-1/2" bulbs.
  • Insert the remover tool up towards the base of the bulb.
  • Angle the remover tool so the tips of the arms slide against the ceramic base to spread the arms open.
  • Once the arms spread open, push the remover up to slip over the lip of the base of the bulb.
  • Pull downward to remove the bulb.

Instructions to install bulb:

  • Install the 1/2" ring in the top section for the all size bulbs.
  • Install the 3/8" ring onto the remover before installing the bulb.
  • Insert the bulb into the remover so the ceramic base of the bulb sits on top of the tips of the remover.
  • Slide the 3/8" ring up on both sides of the arms to secure the bulb in place.
  • Insert bulb into the lamp socket aligning the pins into the holes.
  • Firmly push the bulb into the socket.

This tool was designed to remove Sylvania and GE Brand 4-Pin Triple Tube Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs from recessed ceiling cans from 4-3/4" up to 6-1/2". These bulb types have the GX24q-3 and GX24q-4 4-Pin 6-Sided Base.

This remover will work with the Sylvania Brand 26W 4-3/4" and 6-1/2" Tall Bulbs, GE Brand 26W 5.2", 32W 5.6" and 42W 6.4" Tall Bulbs. The remover will not work with longer versions of this type of bulb. The remover may not work well with any of the Philips Brand Bulbs with the square base, since all their bulbs have a very small lip.

Angle the remover tool so the tips of the arms slide
against the ceramic base to spread the arms open.

Once the arms spread open, push the remover
up to slip fingers over the lip of the base of the bulb then pull the bulb down.

Install the 3/8" ring onto the remover before installing the bulb.

Note position of 1/2" ring based on length of bulb.

Slide the 3/8" ring up on both sides of the arms to secure the bulb in place.
Push bulb into light socket.

This remover will work with the Sylvania Brand 26W 4-3/4" and 6-1/2" Tall Bulbs, GE Brand 26W 5.2", 32W 5.6" and 42W 6.4" Tall Bulbs. The remover will not work with longer versions of this type of bulb. Not the hero we deserve...but the hero we need! This cheap little 3D-printed tool seems so simple and a rip off, but it will save you a lot of pain and agony when trying to pull off a recessed light bulb with little to no wiggle room for your fingers. There was a point where the bulb was loose inside its housing but was stuck in the fixture and I was pushing so hard on my fingers that I had to stop from the pain. I ordered this little thing and within 5 seconds, the bulb was completely out. Thanks for inventing this contraption, which is probably super cheap to make but unless you have a 3D printer, is impossible to duplicate! Sturdy as needed and narrow enough to get into the really tight space. Greatest home invention I've come across. I’m am not exaggerating...this is one of the greatest home engineered products I’ve seen. CFL lightbulbs get brittle after a few years.
